Prashad Café

A collaboration between mother and son, chef Theresa and manager Krishan Peters, from the famous Maharajah Vegetarian brand. Styled like a modern day café, here you can catch a quick coffee and snack, or enjoy the robust taste of pure Vegan & Vegetarian Indian cuisine.

We have two restaurants: in Kloof street, and one in Rondebosch (previously called Maharajah Vegetarian).

Butter Chicken

Palak Paneer

Our homemade cheese cooked in a spinach Sauce. This green bowl of curry will have you coming back for more.


Everybody loves a samoosa right?  Try the potato one!


What ever you order, make sure you get a Naan on the side. We prepare them on the spot in our tandoori oven. Comes in plain, butter and garlic!


Need we say more? Our coffee is superb! We serve Origin Artisanal Coffee, made by trained baristas.

For years now I have been popping into Maharaja’s for our fortnightly if not weekly weekend curry of choice. The vegetable korma at Maharaj has to date been unchallenged by far more classy expensive Indian restaurants. I don’t know what’s in that korma that makes it so delicious and tasty. I’m a creature of habit so go back for the same thing. I’m yet to be found bored with the choice. The service is excellent, always with a smile.
